The count did fall hard from its first peak, reaching 33,543 about a month before Frozen Trail, per PC Guide. Frozen Trail and a free weekend then brought it back up, and GamesBeat reports average Steam players rose 219% in the month after Oct 8. The figure on this page is a single moment, not a daily peak. The clip, from Oct 2, 2026, was made before Frozen Trail arrived.

Steam peaks by date

The conflict on the all-time peak is worth stating. GamesBeat cites 465,097 from Steamcharts, while SteamDB's measured figure is 481,966, and PC Gamer's 480,000 from the time sits above the lower number. This page uses SteamDB's. GamingBolt reported the October peak as nearly 186,000, last matched in the second half of March 2026.

All platforms

2:57 Nexon's numbers reach further than Steam. GamesRadar+ reported 700,000 peak concurrent across all platforms in Nov 2025, and Beebom gives 960,000 as the all-platform peak, in January 2026. GamesRadar+ reported "almost 1 million" concurrent the month before its Feb 2026 story. Beebom also relays nearly 6 million weekly players, per Nexon, without a date, so read that as a past high and not a current count. In the clip, a developer recalls millions of people arriving at launch.

Copies sold

Nexon's press page for 12.4 million was not directly readable when this page was written, so that row rests on a search excerpt of the release; Embark's own 1.11.0 notes confirm 12 million copies by Jan 13, 2026, with a Gilded Pickaxe Raider Tool given to everyone who logged in through that day. Embark also said it had a gift ready for 10 million but passed that mark over the holidays. Nexon called the launch its most successful global launch at 4 million, and cumulative revenue passed 88 billion yen by Jun 30, 2026, which GamesBeat converts to $551.6 million. Windows Central's headline said 12.4 million "players," but Nexon's and Embark's text says copies.

GamesBeat's anniversary piece says over 16 million "as of end of May", older than the 16.3 million in its own August report. No newer official count was found as of Oct 31, 2026. Nexon's third-quarter results were not found either; last year's call came on Nov 11.

The free weekend bump

Embark made the full game free from Oct 8 at 11:00 CEST to Oct 12 at 10:00 CEST, 2026, together with Frozen Trail. Steam rose from 33,543 to 131,388 on Oct 8, the highest in about six months, and to 185,443 on Oct 11. After it ended, the count held well above September's: 81,998 on Oct 31.
